Rigoberto Hernandez studies design principles for sustainable nanotechnologies, the dynamics of protein folding and rearrangement, and the design of autonomous computing materials.

Hernandez's lab focuses on using machine learning to predict the potential effects of nanoparticles on microorganisms based on their molecular-scale properties. Students in his lab use computational chemistry and machine learning to predict the behavoiors of molecular structures.
