Dr. Peter Greene is a leader in the field of informatics in cardiothoracic surgery. He has served as the chair of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Information Technology Committee. He is the founder, executive editor, and key architect of Cardiothoracic Surgery Network (CTSNet), the online community of 40 professional cardiothoracic surgery societies. He has more than 15 years of experience in information technology using a variety of medical applications in parallel to a clinical career.

He had an important role in co-founding the MedBiquitous Consortium and serves as the consortium's executive director. Founded by Johns Hopkins Medicine and leading professional medical societies, MedBiquitous is a non-profit, international group of professional medical and healthcare associations, universities, commercial, and governmental organizations dedicated to advancing healthcare education through technology standards that promote professional competence, collaboration, and better patient care.
