Are you a staff member with ideas about how to make Johns Hopkins University an even better place to work? Are you looking for ways to grow your career and gain new skills beyond your daily work—such as building proposals for staff-focused initiatives to share with university leadership?
If so, this is your once-a-year chance to nominate yourself to join the university Staff Advisory Council to represent your division or organization.
The self-nomination period for the 2026 Staff Advisory Council is open Dec. 1 through Dec. 19.
SAC members serve two-year terms, and to ensure broad representation from across the university, seats are designed to represent specific schools, divisions, and job levels. Because of staggered terms, not all designated positions are open each year; find the openings for which self-nominations are being accepted for this election period here.
Learn more about the council and its role on the SAC webpage.
Throughout 2025, SAC has continued its journey to amplify staff voices, and university leaders say they are grateful to current members for their contributions. This year, members met regularly with leadership to exchange ideas and begin sharing proposals for initiatives to support staff.
The council fulfills an important goal in the Ten for One strategic framework as the university seeks to foster a dynamic workplace where all staff can thrive personally and professionally. SAC members dedicate time outside their daily work to research and build proposals on initiatives that can improve the staff experience at JHU.
Nominations may be submitted here before Friday, Dec. 19. Your submission will be used during the SAC elections in January 2026.
