The JHU Staff Advisory Council has been meeting with teams across the university this year as its members work to develop proposals for initiatives to support staff. The group's focus includes employee experience; facilities and workplace environment; policies, procedures and practice; and engagement and recognition.
On Sept. 18, SAC members convened at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington to meet with three leaders from SAIS: Dean Jim Steinberg; Mark Bailey, senior associate dean for finance and administration; and Gia Stancell-Wilkerson, director of Human Resources. The SAC learned how SAIS engages with and supports its staff, especially at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center.
Cybele Bjorklund, JHU's vice president for federal strategy and executive director of the HBC, also met with the Staff Advisory Council and shared insights on the university's federal strategy in the current environment. The members learned more about how they can support staff at the HBC, which the group toured.
Staff from throughout the university who have ideas for SAC initiatives can share them with their division's council members.
More information about the SAC and its work is available on the Staff Advisory Council website.
