The JHU Staff Advisory Council met March 12 to bring together returning and newly elected members. This first session of 2025, held at Johns Hopkins at Eastern, was designed for members to network, orient newcomers, hear from university leadership, and begin their work by discussing new initiatives.

Laurent Heller, executive vice president for finance and administration, and Meredith Stewart, interim vice president for human resources, welcomed members and highlighted the important role that the JHUSAC plays. Heller and Stewart discussed the period of unprecedented change that the university is navigating and answered questions.

After networking, lunch, and orientation, JHUSAC members broke into smaller groups to discuss what the council accomplished and learned in 2024 and what its priorities should be for 2025. This includes finalizing bylaws, finding new and better ways to communicate with university staff, and continuing to press forward on initiatives that are currently in progress.

The JHUSAC meets monthly as a group, and subcommittees meet as needed for their specific work. More information is available on the Staff Advisory Council website.
