With representatives in both jazz and classical music, the list of 2024 Grammy Awards nominations includes several contributions from alums of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
Here, we've put together an official playlist so you can hear this year's Hopkins-affiliated highlights ahead of the 66th annual Grammys:
Nominees with ties to Peabody are:
40@40 by soloist Laura Strickling, Peab '06 (MM), and pianist Daniel Schlosberg, Peab '00, '01 (MM), A&S '00, is nominated for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album, with contributions from Joseph Jones, Peab '05, and Caitlin Vincent Peab '09 (MM).
Legacy: The Instrumental Jawn by Adam Blackstone—which features performances from trumpeter Dontae Winslow, Peab '97, '99 (MM), and saxophonist Tim Green, jazz faculty—is nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album.
Elaine Martone is nominated for Producer of the Year, Classical, in part for her work on Rachmaninoff & Gershwin: Transcriptions By Earl Wild by pianist John Wilson, Peab '10, '12 (MM), '14 (GPD).
Rounds by Jessie Montgomery, which features a performance from pianist Awadagin Pratt, Peab '89, '92 (GPD), is nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. EST.
