Senior Monagle leads JHU contingent to NCAA DIII track championships

Blue Jays send six athletes to meets in LaCrosse, Wis., later this week

Senior Annie Monagle is among six members of the Johns Hopkins men's and women's track teams that have earned qualifying positions at the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships, which begin Thursday in LaCrosse, Wis.

Monagle will compete in two events, the 800 meters and the 1500 meters, in which she is seeded third after posting a qualifying time of 4:25.49 earlier this season. Teammate Hannah Oneda, a freshman, had the second best time among those who qualified for the 5000 meters (16:36.56), just one second behind the time recorded by Taylor Berg of St. Thomas. Oneda will also compete in the 10000 meters.

Other qualifiers for the Blue Jays are junior Maggie Shelton (800), junior Emily Swenson (javelin), sophomore Frances Loeb (10000), and junior Max Robinson (10000), the lone qualifier from the men's team.
