Steven M. Ross is a professor and executive director at Johns Hopkins University's Center for Research and Reform in Education. He has authored six textbooks and over 140 journal articles on educational technology, at-risk learners, educational reform, and extended learning time. Ross is a prominent lecturer on school programs and serves on the editorial boards of five professional journals.

He was the first recipient of The University of Memphis Eminent Faculty Award and held the Lillian and Morrie Moss Chair. In 2019, he received the Michael Spector Career Achievement Award, and in 2024, he became the inaugural recipient of the Robert E. Slavin Chair of Evidence in Education. Ross has testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Youth, and Families and consulted for the National Science Foundation. His current work focuses on evaluating out-of-school learning, STEM instruction, technology integration, and social-emotional learning.
