Description

Tara Kirk Sell, assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, will give a talk titled "Is the Olympics Worth It?" as the the inaugural event of the Fall 2021 Aronson Center for International Studies Speaker Series.

Sell is a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Sell's work focuses on improving public health policy and practice in order to reduce the health impacts of disasters and terrorism. She has led several studies on public health policy responses to disease outbreaks, public health communication during the Zika outbreak, and misinformation during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. She currently is working on a range of COVID-19 issues. Prior to her work in academia, she was a professional athlete and won a silver medal in the 2004 Olympics.
