NAVIGATING YOUR CAREER

Transfer guidelines between JHU and JHHS have been expanded

Changes provide more flexibility and continuity for employees as they grow their careers at Johns Hopkins

The employee administrative transfer guidelines between Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System—which are two organizations—have been expanded to provide more flexibility and continuity for employees as they grow their careers at Johns Hopkins. The guidelines cover benefits eligibility, conditions of the transfer, service dates, and more.

If you are currently working at JHU and find an opportunity at JHHS, here's what you should know:

  • All transfers between JHHS and JHU will be recognized, whether the organization or the employee initiated them.
  • Years of service will transfer and be recognized across the organizations.
  • These guidelines are effective Jan. 1, 2026, and are not retroactive.
