When Johns Hopkins University and Health System transitions to the Workday technology platform in summer 2027, all employees will use it.
Common tasks such as looking at pay stubs, downloading W2s, and updating personal information will move from Employee Self-Service to Workday, promising a more intuitive user experience akin to upgrading your smartphone or computer operating system.
In addition to reimagining processes for administrative functions in human resources, finance, supply chain, and sponsored projects, Workday also will introduce new ways of working on everyday tasks such as setting performance goals, completing reviews, and filing expense reports. Explore the changes ahead.
In January, the Sightline program is launching the Workday Year of Learning to prepare the Johns Hopkins community for this shift.
Sightline, the multiyear business modernization program launched by the university and health system in late 2023, aims to enhance staff and faculty experiences, streamline business processes, and introduce the new technology platform. The goal: administrative support services that are faster, more accurate, and more consistent across the institution. Workday will replace SAP, the current version of which will not be supported after 2027.
The Workday Year of Learning initiative will provide learning resources designed to familiarize employees with Workday's basic features ahead of role-based training in early 2027. By participating in the Year of Learning, everyone can build confidence with the platform and ask questions at their own pace, making the transition smoother for themselves and their colleagues.
The Year of Learning will offer several ways to learn:
- myWorkday demonstrations: Short videos show how Workday looks and works. Early topics include navigation and the creation of expense reports, with more videos to be added throughout the year.
- Introduction to Workday eLearnings: Self-paced online modules teach Workday navigation and core features. The series will be available on demand.
- What's Changing With Workday webinars: Monthly 45-minute webinars (beginning in January) will feature updates, demonstrations, and live Q&A with experts. Topics include managing personal information, financial reporting, and setting goals. No prerequisites are needed, and everyone is encouraged to join.
