Do you have a teenager who's thinking about college? If so, then mark your calendar for College Access Day on Saturday, Aug. 9. This in-person event, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the East Baltimore campus, is designed to support JHU employees with children in middle and high school who are navigating the journey toward higher education.

You'll be able to meet local college representatives and gain valuable insights into the college admissions process, including sessions on financial aid, scholarships, standardized testing (SAT/ACT), and the university's Tuition Grant Plan.

Spots are limited, so participants must register in advance to attend.

Applying to college can be both exciting and overwhelming for families. This event is about empowering you with the knowledge and resources needed to support your child's educational goals.

CollegeBound, a Baltimore-based nonprofit that helps city students pursue postsecondary education, will lead the breakout sessions:

  • Workshops for Middle School Students and Parents. Designed to help families prepare early, these sessions will cover key transition points from middle to high school, important academic milestones, SAT/ACT preparation, and an introduction to scholarships.
  • Workshops for High School Students and Parents. These sessions will focus on the college admissions process. Topics include writing college essays, application timelines, financial aid strategies, and scholarships.
  • Overview of the JHU Tuition Grant Plan. Learn about the university's benefit for eligible employees that covers 50% of each dependent child's full-time undergraduate tuition and eligible fees at any accredited degree-granting institution, up to $33,335 per academic year.
