If you have a remaining balance for academic year 2024–25 and your child plans to take summer term classes, now is the time to apply for Tuition Grant in EdAssist. You must apply online starting 60 days before the term start date and no later than 30 days after. Watch these new brief videos for a Tuition Grant overview and How to Apply in EdAssist. Reminders:

  • If you have more than one qualifying child, you must apply for each dependent each term.
  • If both parents work at JHU, each parent must apply for each dependent to receive the full grant.
  • Grant cap: When submitting your application, your requested amount should not exceed your remaining balance as shown in EdAssist. The maximum award amount for academic year 2024–25 is $32,365.

  • The Tuition Grant–Domestic Partner Children option is only for those who are a non–tax dependent.

  • Letter of credit: Remember that for direct bill and payment to your student's school, you must retrieve the letter of credit and send it to the school to initiate payment. The school will need to submit an invoice to EdAssist for each application. If your dependent's school does not accept the letter of credit, select Tuition Grant for Children–Reimbursement. Once you submit your application, you must upload an itemized invoice. Then, you will receive payment via payroll within one or two pay periods.

Once your submitted application has been reviewed and approved, EdAssist will send a status update by email within three to five days. Remember to visit EdAssist to retrieve your letter of credit. Log into EdAssist at any time to view your application status.

For detailed instructions on using EdAssist, including a new step-by-step video, go to the How to Apply section on the Tuition Grant webpage.
