The Johns Hopkins Occupational Health team has launched a major upgrade to Cority, the software used to store and manage the employee health records of Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine faculty and staff. This upgrade strengthens the team's ability to manage injuries and illnesses, optimizes the return-to-work process for employees, ensures regulatory compliance, and identifies trends so that Occupational Health can effectively and efficiently manage workforce health.
The upgraded system allows for standardized workflows that bring together work-related medical care, health compliance, and injury data in one place, eliminating redundant data entry, improving communications, and ensuring data accuracy.
"This upgrade allows us to enhance the use of technology to streamline work, improve service to our employees and stakeholders, and provide key metrics to drive operational needs," says Aliyah Young, executive director of Occupational Health. "By integrating medical care, case management, and safety data in one place, we can act faster, communicate more clearly, and help ensure a safe and healthy work environment across our institutions."
Key features of the new system include:
- Improved communications to employees regarding their health requirements, including immunization recalls and appointment reminders (via email and/or text messages)
- Better supported workplace safety with automatic notifications of reported work-related incidents and injuries to Occupational Safety and the employee's manager
- Improved new-hire medical clearance process
- Better communication with the manager regarding the employee's duty disposition/return-to-work status without disclosing health information
