Having kids means making summer plans when it's still wintertime and freezing outside. As a JHU employee, you have some resources to lean on as you dream of warmer days and find summer activities for your kids. Check out these suggestions from the Office of Benefits & Worklife.

The Maryland Family Network's Locate service enables Maryland families to find quality, licensed child care, including summer camps. Use the Locate search tool to find options. Additional information and resources can be found on its website.

Families also can rely on the Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance Program for child care location and resource services to help plan summer care. JHEAP is available for emotional support and daily life assistance 24/7/365 at 888-978-1262 or online at CCA@YourService (company code JHEAP). Visit the JHEAP webpage for more information.

Bright Horizons, the university's backup care provider, also offers programs and resources to help plan your family's summer. Here's what's included:

  • Steve & Kate's Camp. With locations across the country, including Baltimore, Steve & Kate's Camp offers Hopkins employees a discount of $15 off per day of camp, or $300 off a full season pass for the summer. To learn more, search the Resources section in myBrightHorizons.
  • Camps in the Bright Horizons network
  • Age-appropriate options for school-age children
  • Coverage for school breaks, holidays, and summer vacations through Backup Care

Visit the Family and Caregiving Programs webpage to learn more. Questions? Contact the Benefits Service Center at 410-516-2000 or worklife@jhu.edu.
