Make the most of your CareFirst medical plan this year

As we enter the new year, JHU Benefits & Worklife wants to support your ongoing health journey and help you get the most from your JHU medical plan in 2025.

Remember that Quantum Health is your one-stop shop for all needs related to CareFirst plans. You can reach Quantum Health at 844-460-2801, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., or through the member portal at any time.

Here are three reminders about how Quantum Health can help you:

Retrieve your medical ID card. If you selected a CareFirst medical plan for 2025, you should receive your new ID card by the end of this month. The medical ID and pharmacy ID numbers are not changing. Your card includes contact information for prescription drug providers Capital Rx and Johns Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy. Quantum Health's contact information is also listed, and you can call or visit the member portal to retrieve your medical ID card whenever you need a copy.

Obtain or renew a pre-authorization. If you or a family member is receiving ongoing care, you may need to renew an existing pre-authorization during 2025. Quantum Health makes the process easy because your care coordinator can ensure you don't experience any interruptions with your care or prescriptions, even if you switched JHU medical plans this year.

Prepare to use your medical benefits this year. Whether you anticipate having surgery, need to understand a new diagnosis, or want to be up to date on preventive care screenings, Quantum Health and its team of specialists can help you prepare for the year ahead. Once you reach out for help, the nurse care coordinator with whom you first interact will be the one who helps you for the duration of your treatment.
