Upgrades in Johns Hopkins' backup care program will be coming your way beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
Following a request for proposals and a collaborative effort between the Office of Benefits & Worklife, university leadership, and the Family Advisory Committee, JHU is transitioning from Care.com to Bright Horizons as the provider of backup care services.
What is backup care?
Backup care assists employees when their regular care arrangements fall through. Whether needed for a child because of a school closure, a nanny's sudden unavailability, or an unexpected family emergency, backup care provides a reliable, temporary solution. It also includes elder care, offering a comprehensive support system for employees with diverse responsibilities.
What's staying the same?
- You will continue to enjoy the benefits you rely on—10 days of backup care per year at the same subsidized rates, plus discounts for caregiving and educational needs.
- You'll also still have access to digital care networks, now through Sittercity and Years Ahead, to support your ongoing needs.
- All caregivers go through rigorous screening, giving you extra peace of mind.
Your benefits with Care.com are available through Dec. 31, 2024. Go to johnshopkins.care.com to use your 10 days of backup care before the year is over.
What's new?
- Instant booking: Confirm your backup care in under 1 minute with this streamlined booking feature.
- Expanded care options: Tap into a larger network of in-center care for more flexibility.
- 24/7 live support: Need help fast? The Bright Horizons Customer Care Center is available anytime and provides a live chat for instant assistance.
- Digital convenience: Manage everything through the personalized My Bright Horizons platform, available both online and via mobile app.
- Seamless issue resolution: Bright Horizons provides a simple, effective process for any concerns that may come up.
