Two big changes have come to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Child Care Center, located at 5505 Hopkins Bayview Circle. After the retirement of the center's longtime director, Bright Horizons has been enlisted as its operator. And all university faculty, staff, and students are now invited to enroll; previously, the center accepted only children of parents who work on the Bayview campus. The center provides a nurturing environment for children 2 to 5 years old and currently has openings available.
Additionally, the JHU Child Care Scholarship has been extended to the Bayview center, making it the fourth partner center at which eligible parents can use the scholarship to help pay for tuition. The scholarship can be combined with the Child Care Voucher to assist eligible families in covering the costs of child care. Vouchers and scholarships are available to full-time faculty and staff, full-time doctoral or medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and house staff who meet eligibility requirements and have a child under the age of 6 who is not yet in kindergarten.
Leading the Bayview center is Leta Jones, who has 30 years of experience in early childhood education. During her tenure with Bright Horizons, she has advanced from lead teacher to program coordinator to a center director, a position she has held for nearly 10 years. The center's program is designed to instill confidence in every aspect of a child's experience, emphasizing health, safety, and school readiness, all with the dedicated support of experienced educators.
Due to limited availability, spots are expected to fill quickly. To learn more about the center or to request more information, visit its website or contact Director Leta Jones at 410-550-1919.
