Every June, Pride Month invites LGBTQIA+ folks to proudly celebrate their identities, recognizing the richness and diversity they bring to the world. Originally intended to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, this monthlong celebration has evolved into a global phenomenon. Pride events and festivities serve as vital forums for community solidarity and advocacy around the world, shedding light on persistent challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ people.

Pride Month is more than just a series of events and parades; it's a time to acknowledge the courage and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's also an opportunity to educate ourselves, embrace diversity, and foster an inclusive environment at our workplace. Seize the opportunity to champion inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+.

It is important to acknowledge that the community often faces unique mental health challenges due to discrimination, stigma, marginalization, and lack of support. Now is the time to remind those within the Johns Hopkins community who may need support that the university has helpful resources available.

A mental health and self-care resource guide features ways you can make positive connections, whether you're in crisis, curious about therapy, in need of peer support, or interested in community action, allyship, and advocacy.

The Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance Program, also known as JHEAP, is offering an exclusive learning event titled No One Left Behind: Equality, Freedom, and Justice for All, which is intended to celebrate inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+.
