Joining a new organization can be an exciting yet daunting experience, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. With Johns Hopkins University's vast footprint and vibrant culture, building connections, expanding your network, and establishing a support system can help make the transition a little easier. A monthly networking group for new hires is ready to connect you with peers from different departments, share resources and experiences with one another, and pave the way for future collaborations and growth.
This group is open to new employees with under one year of service at JHU. Sponsored by the Office of Benefits & Worklife, this group provides a forum for peers to connect, collaborate, and grow with others acclimating to Hopkins.
In this group, you will have the opportunity to:
- Connect with peers. Meet fellow new hires from different departments and backgrounds, fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging within the organization.
- Share experiences. Recount your onboarding journey, exchange tips and insights, and learn from each other's experiences as you navigate through your first year at JHU.
- Discover resources. Gain access to valuable information and helpful tips to accelerate your learning and development.
- Engage in discussions. Exchange opinions and information, ask questions, seek advice, and contribute your perspectives on navigating the university as a new employee.
- Expand your network. Move beyond your immediate team and department, forging connections that can lead to future collaborations and opportunities for growth.
The New to JHU Networking Group will meet from noon to 1 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month over Zoom. Registration is required; click here to register and to add the links to your calendar.
In addition, a Microsoft Teams group has been created for this group for resource sharing and networking; if you would like to be added, email worklife@jhu.edu. Be sure to include the name of the group you would like to join.
These sessions are not recorded as they are confidential and available only to Johns Hopkins affiliates. If you have any questions, email worklife@jhu.edu.
