Full-time benefits-eligible Johns Hopkins affiliates have access to a host of care benefits through Care@Work. These benefits can help you manage your family care needs while balancing work and include a free premium membership to Care.com, as well as backup care for children and adults.
Premium membership to Care.com provides unlimited access to the world's largest network of caregivers. You can explore detailed caregiver profiles in your area, post a job based on your needs, and access the Care.com safety center, background check options, and other resources.
Care@Work can help with your other needs, too. Did you know you can hire housekeepers, pet sitters, dog walkers, elder companions, and grocery and errand runners through Care.com? Life is stressful enough; remember to use the resources available to you.
Backup care is vetted, university-subsidized adult and child care you can use when your regular care is not available. Eligible Hopkins employees and students have access to 10 backup care days per calendar year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31). The cost is based on your salary, with the subsidized hourly rate ranging from $6 to $10.
Backup care is not just for last-minute requests. To make the most of your 10 backup care days, plan ahead. If you know your child's school will be closed for professional development, a holiday, cleaning, or renovation, book your care ahead of time. The more notice you provide, the more likely you are to find care.
To begin using these benefits, register with Care@Work using your JHED ID (without @jh.edu).
