The group planning the future University Staff Advisory Council gathered on Monday afternoon at Nichols House, the president's residence on the Homewood campus, to be recognized for the work it has been doing to move the project forward.
The SAC Planning Group kicked off in December 2022 to create the infrastructure for the council. Among its tasks are identifying the composition, term lengths, and procedures for election of membership and leadership. The members have met as a group about a dozen times, and participants have also worked extensively in smaller subcommittees to develop various elements of the infrastructure that also include mission, areas of focus, and processes of communication between constituents and the council.
The SAC will report to the senior vice president for finance and administration and the vice president for human resources and will work closely with many university leaders.
Addressing the Planning Group and thanking the members for their work were President Ron Daniels and Meredith Stewart, interim vice president for human resources.
The nomination and election process for the Staff Advisory Council is scheduled to get underway soon so that the inaugural members can be seated in early 2024.
