A winning fall tailgate

University Administration brings staff together to enjoy catered food and a soccer game—and says thanks with branded fleeces for everyone

Not every tailgate involves a pickup truck laden with homemade food and guests ready to cheer on their football team. The catered tailgate thrown by University Administration on Oct. 4 at Homewood Field had other goals: To show staff appreciation, bring together employees from departments across the university, and cheer on the JHU women's soccer team, which would go on to beat Washington College 3-0. The 200-plus attendees got to hang out with colleagues on a beautiful fall day, feast on picnic fare, play outdoor games, and go home with UA-branded Johns Hopkins zip-up fleeces.

If you missed the gathering, you have a second chance: Another tailgate will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, before the men's soccer team takes on Salisbury University. The event is open to all UA staff, but only those who pre-registered by Sept. 12 are guaranteed a fleece. (But if you arrive early, you may be able to snag one of the extras that were ordered.)
