FALL FEST

Hanging with family, colleagues, and some really wild neighbors

JHU's annual staff appreciation event at the Maryland Zoo draws a crowd of nearly 3,000

Fall Fest—JHU's annual staff appreciation event—drew nearly 3,000 members of the Johns Hopkins community to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on Saturday. Not even the likelihood of rain and the major parking lot construction could deter the fun-seeking crowd.

Staff members and their families and friends spent the day getting up close with the animals, meeting the university's Blue Jay mascot, getting face paint, lunching on a spread that ranged from salad to pulled pork (with mac and cheese and hot dogs in between), and snacking on ice cream from two Miss Twist trucks.

Meredith Stewart, interim vice president for Human Resources and executive director of Total Rewards, welcomed the crowd, which also included employee volunteers, campus security, and Classic Catering staff. Division and HR leadership volunteered along with staff to show their appreciation of employees' commitment and dedication to Johns Hopkins.

The entire event was waste-neutral.
