Do you really understand all those health insurance terms, how claims are processed, or how health savings accounts (HSAs) work? Are you aware of the numerous voluntary benefits the university offers in addition to your core benefits? In three upcoming webinars, subject matter experts will provide answers to these questions.

Now is the perfect time to get a head start on fall's 2024 Annual Enrollment by becoming an informed consumer. JHU's Office of Benefits & Worklife will be hosting three educational webinars in August: Tips and Tricks for Benefits Use, Health Savings Account Review, and Voluntary Benefit Options. Register for these webinars to learn more about your benefits and how they work.

Tips and Tricks for Benefits Use: Thursday, Aug. 10, at noon. Health insurance is full of terms you may not know such as allowed amount, coinsurance, copayment, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, drug formulary, in-network, and explanation of benefits (EOB). To help you better understand health insurance, join the Office of Benefits & Worklife for a review and explanation of the terminology used in the benefits world, along with some money-saving tricks when choosing your providers. Register in advance for this webinar here.

Health Savings Account Review: Wednesday, Aug. 16, at noon. The Office of Benefits & Worklife will host a guest speaker from WEX who will provide an overview of the health savings account available to those in the CareFirst BCBS High-Deductible Health Plan. Topics will include how to manage contributions, invest your funds, and request distributions. Register in advance for this webinar here.

Voluntary Benefit Options: Thursday, Aug. 17, at noon. To help you save money and prepare for life's unexpected challenges, the university offers a variety of voluntary insurance packages in addition to your core benefits. These include legal assistance and pet insurance as well as accident, auto/homeowner, identity theft protection, and critical illness insurance. The Office of Benefits & Worklife will host a guest speaker from Mercer Voluntary Benefits, JHU's program administrator, for a comprehensive review of these options. Register in advance for this webinar here.
