Kick off your family's summer by planning activities for the next few months. Your Johns Hopkins worklife benefits can help you create an itinerary before anyone can utter, "I'm bored."

Get moving with your kids in Burnalong

The Burnalong virtual wellness platform features thousands of online classes for all ages, interests, and levels. Browse the library for family activities and kid-friendly workouts, videos on healthy cooking and eating, and family mindfulness.

View the summer camp category for ideas, or join the summer camp kids program for 12 weeks of activities for children elementary school age and up.

Did you know you can create your own Burnalong playlist? Sit down with your loved ones for a few moments to curate a summer activity playlist together.

JHU full-time employees can click here to create or log into your Burnalong account. To create a playlist, click on your user icon in the top right corner and select My Playlists.

Take a day trip

Plan a fun family trip and save some money using your discount programs. Find tickets to theme parks like Sesame Place, Hershey Park, and Busch Gardens, or for a rainy-day activity like going to the movies at theaters including AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. Search for discounts by category, including family, fun destinations, and theme parks. Start here:

  • LifeMart for JHU employees. Register using the code JOHNSHOPKINS. For savings on the go, you can download the LifeMart mobile app.
  • Perks at Work for JH employees. Log into myccaonline.com (company code: JHEAP) and click Centers >Savings Center from the home screen. New users first need to click on Register for Free to create a profile for the Savings Center and register using the company name Workplace Options US and the company code EAP. You will then receive a system-created email message to complete your registration and log in.

Hit the books

To help prevent summer learning loss and keep your kids' noggins engaged, browse tutoring, e-learning, and educational resources on the School Age & Educational Resources page of Benefits & Worklife's Family Programs website. LifeMart and Perks at Work also offer discounts on learning resources (see links above).

Find a summer camp or connect to care

Connect with the Maryland Family Network to find summer programs and camps. Complete the request form and Locate's referral specialist will connect you with Maryland's registered providers and programs that meet your needs. You also can contact Locate at 800-999-0120 or LOCATEcorporate@marylandfamilynetwork.org.

Plan a playdate

Use the Komae cooperative child care app to identify similar families and trade care at no cost. To get started, download the Komae app on your mobile device using your Hopkins email and create your family profile. From there, you can join the Hopkins families group or other existing groups, or create your own group with friends, families, and neighbors looking to share care. Once registered, you will receive an initial balance of points to receive care from others in your community. Additional information can be found on the Komae website.

Schedule backup care for kids or adults

Backup Care by Care@Work is a great resource to use when your regular care is not available, especially during summer interruptions. Full-time faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students receive 10 days per year that are subsidized by Johns Hopkins, with the cost of your co-pay based on your salary. You can request in-home or in-center backup care for children. In-home backup care for adults is also available. To register, go to johnshopkins.care.com and use your JHED ID (without @jh.edu) to activate your account. You can request backup care up to 30 days in advance.

Visit the Family & Caregiving Programs page of the Benefits & Worklife website to learn more about the benefits available to make a memorable summer for you and your family.
