Confirmation statements for 2023 benefits were mailed to all full-time benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and bargaining unit members in early December. Carefully review your statement to ensure that the elections shown are those that you intended for next year. If you are covering a child who is currently age 26, that coverage will end on Dec. 31, 2022. This is reflected on the confirmation statement.
If the elections shown on your benefits confirmation statement are incorrect, you must email the Benefits Service Center at benefits@jhu.edu no later than Dec. 31, 2022.
- Include "2023 Annual Enrollment Correction" in the subject line.
- Include full details of the correction you are requesting, including dependent information.
- You will receive an email response acknowledging receipt of your request.
If you have already reached out to the Benefits Service Center to request a change, this may not be reflected on your statement.
If you need to make a correction to your beneficiary, you can make this change online, 24/7, at hr.jhu.edu/benefits-worklife. Choose Life Events on the myChoices Health & Life Enrollment tab.
2022 flexible spending accounts
For the 2022 plan year, any balance from $30 up to $570 in your health care or limited purpose flexible spending account, or FSA, will carry over into 2023. You will be able to confirm this carryover after the 2022 claims filing deadline of April 30, 2023, by viewing your account at wexinc.com. The confirmation does not reflect this carryover amount. Be sure to check your account for any outstanding FSA debit card substantiation/documentation requests. If these are not submitted by Dec. 15, 2022, your FSA debit card will be inactive in January.
2023 health savings account
If you previously elected the high-deductible health plan and chose to open a health savings account, or HSA, you must elect a new contribution amount for 2023. Otherwise, your contribution will be automatically set to $0. In 2023, you can contribute up to $3,850 per individual and up to $7,750 per family to the HSA. You can change your contribution amount at any time during the year.
Life insurance evidence of insurability
Your confirmation statement reflects the amount of life insurance you can elect without evidence of insurability, or EOI. It may differ from the election that you made during Annual Enrollment. If you had existing supplemental life insurance coverage and elected to move up one level of coverage, EOI is not required. If you moved up more than one level of coverage, you will need to complete EOI. If you elected supplemental life insurance for the first time (and are not a new hire), EOI is required for any amount of supplemental coverage you elect. Securian Financial will reach out to you by email to start the EOI process.
