Help recognize volunteers who demonstrate the spirit of citizenship and activism that characterized the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by nominating a colleague, or yourself, for a 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Community Service. Nominations are now open.
The prestigious award is given each year to members of the Johns Hopkins community who share Dr. King's values of service, equality, and selflessness through their volunteerism.
All faculty, staff, and graduate students at the university and health system, as well as persons regularly assigned to work at Hopkins through affiliated organizations, are eligible to receive the award, and self-nominations are welcome.
Four recipients each from the university and health system will be selected. The online nomination form must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 14. A review panel composed of Johns Hopkins employees will make the final selections in November.
The community service must have been completed during 2022 and should not be a part of the individual's duties at Johns Hopkins. Past recipients have been recognized for important work that includes helping women prevent homelessness, mentoring students, distributing hot meals, and renovating vacant houses for low-income earners.
