Since 2011, Johns Hopkins employees have stepped up with generous donations to the Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive, which assists families in purchasing the uniforms required for elementary, middle, and high school students in Baltimore City Public Schools. Starting with this year's campaign, their donations will also subsidize school supplies that the students need to return to class in August fully prepared.

It has been shown that wearing new uniforms and having access to essential school supplies help students build confidence and better focus on classwork. In addition, BCPS reports that access to uniforms and school supplies is linked to improved attendance rates.

In partnership with BCPS, Johns Hopkins works with a vendor to establish a cost of $40 for two uniforms. Now, a donation of $40 will also subsidize the cost of essential school supplies for BCPS students in need of support.

The campaign has been renamed the Adopt-a-Student Uniform & Supply Drive.

You can adopt one or more students by going to the Adopt-a-Student Donation Page on the Benefits & Worklife website. To select a contribution amount, click the Donate button. Credit cards are accepted.

The deadline to sponsor a student is Friday, Aug. 27.
