SMART CHOICES

2020 benefits enrollment is coming soon

Now's the time to review your current coverage and explore your other options

Are you interested in making changes to your health and life benefits for 2020? JHU's Annual Enrollment dates are Oct. 16 through Nov. 1, 2019. You are encouraged to take time to review your current coverage and to take advantage of the enrollment resources available to help you make smart benefits choices for the coming year.

The university is committed to offering comprehensive and valuable benefits to faculty and staff to reinforce its tradition of excellence and to help it attract and retain outstanding talent. It continues to review its health and benefits offerings to identify ways to enhance these programs to better meet the needs of its faculty and staff and to remain competitive among its peers.

Medical plan offerings will be expanded for 2020 with the addition of a new high-deductible health plan paired with a health savings account. This option will allow the university to modernize its offerings while providing employees with more meaningful choices. The other medical plans will continue to be available.

You are encouraged to learn all you can about your benefits, including the new offerings and other enhancements, so you can make the most of your JHU benefits program.

If you do not enroll during the Annual Enrollment period, your current medical, Delta Dental, vision, life and AD&D, short-term disability, and voluntary benefits elections will carry over into 2020 with any new rates.

As announced last year, the United ConcordiaPLUS Dental HMO will be eliminated for 2020. If you currently have this plan, you will be covered automatically under the Delta Dental Standard Plan for 2020 if you do not actively enroll.

To participate in the health care and/or dependent care flexible spending accounts, you must enroll each year during Annual Enrollment.
