Diversity and Inclusion: 21st Century Higher Education is a half-day course that will identify some of the common and distinctive issues that impact diversity and inclusion experiences in colleges and universities.
Participants will be introduced to a three-dimensional model of higher education diversity that summarizes and informs participants of key social identities in higher education, core areas of examination, and focal groups, and how these three areas combine to shape diversity and inclusion across higher education.
Key individual factors that shape identity and life experiences such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, age, socioeconomic status, and unconscious bias also will be discussed. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences.
Register online for the course, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Johns Hopkins at Eastern.
