Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in volunteer opportunities to support communities in the Baltimore, Howard County, Washington, D.C., and St. Petersburg, Florida, areas on Friday, Jan. 25.

The volunteer opportunities vary in length of time, so faculty and staff are encouraged to block the morning, afternoon, or all day until registering for a specific activity. University employees may use service leave provided by Johns Hopkins Takes Time for Baltimore.

Registration will open on Friday, Jan. 4. The range of volunteer opportunities includes:

  • Donating new and gently used children's coats, hats, mittens, and socks
  • Donating new and gently used business attire in support of men and women entering or re-entering the workforce
  • Volunteering for 4-hour times slots in the morning, afternoon, or both

The inaugural event, held in January 2018, sent more than 400 employees to nonprofit organizations in the four designated communities.

The volunteer effort is organized by the Office of Work, Life and Engagement and the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
