All full-time benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and bargaining unit members will receive a confirmation of their 2019 elections by mail in mid-December. Here's what you need to know:

Confirmation statement

The confirmation statement of your 2019 benefits enrollment includes your health, vision, life, disability, and flexible spending account elections. Review the statement carefully to assure that the elections shown are those that you intended for next year. If you have been covering a child who is currently age 26, coverage will end Dec. 31, 2018; this is reflected on the confirmation statement.

If you determine that your enrollment is not correct, you must act on this no later than Dec. 31, 2018, by emailing the correction(s) to the Benefits Service Center at benefits@jhu.edu using the subject line "2019 Annual Enrollment Correction."

You will receive a return email acknowledging receipt of your request and a new confirmation in January.

If your correction is to your beneficiary, you can make this update online at benefits.jhu.edu/myChoices by choosing Life Events on the Health & Life benefits button.

2019 health care flexible spending account

If you have a balance of $500 or less in your 2018 Health Care Flexible Spending Account, that balance will automatically carry over into 2019; you will be able to confirm this after the 2018 claims filing deadline of April 30, 2019, by viewing your WageWorks account at wageworks.com. The benefits confirmation does not reflect this carry-over amount.

Voluntary benefits program

Voluntary benefits enrollments are confirmed by the carriers and therefore are not shown on the confirmation statement. Should you need to make corrections, contact Mercer customer service at 866-795-9362 before 2 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2018. Note that the United HealthCare vision plan is not available in 2019, and your previous coverage will not roll forward; an active election is required to participate in the new EyeMed core benefit offering.

Life insurance evidence of insurability

Your confirmation statement reflects the amount of life insurance you are able to elect without evidence of insurability, or EOI; it may differ from the election that you made during annual enrollment. If you had existing supplemental life insurance coverage and elected to move up one level of coverage, EOI is not required provided the new coverage amount doesn't exceed four times your annual base salary or $500,000. If you moved up more than one level of coverage, you will need to complete evidence of insurability. If you elected supplemental life insurance for the first time (and are not a new hire), EOI is required for any amount of supplemental coverage you elect; Securian Financial will reach out to you on the process.

United Concordia Dental Plan ending in 2020

The United Concordia DHMO remains effective only for current participants, through Dec. 31, 2019. This dental plan will not be an option for the 2020 plan year.
