IRS sets 2019 contribution limits for 403(b) plans

Changes include pretax elective deferral increase to $19,000

The Internal Revenue Service recently announced the annual 403(b) limits for 2019. They are as follows:

  • Pre-tax elective deferral: $19,000 (was $18,500 in 2018)
  • Age 50 and over catch-up: $6,000 (same as 2018)
  • Overall by employer/employee: $56,000 (was $55,000 in 2018)
  • Annual compensation limit: $280,000 (was $275,000 in 2018)
