Using summer tuition grants for dependents

Smiling young college student

Faculty and staff with dependents participating in the Tuition Grant program must notify the Benefits Service Center if their student will be taking any mini-sessions/mini-semesters this summer.

Payment deadlines for summer mini-semesters are often much shorter than for fall or spring, and most colleges that participate with Johns Hopkins University in the Tuition Grant program will not apply a payment credit prospectively for summer.

For this reason, it is important for participating employees to notify the Benefits Service Center as soon as their dependent registers for a summer mini-semester. Even if your student's school received the tuition grant payment for fall and spring, do not assume that payment for summer courses will be automatic. Act now to avoid late fees and dropped courses.

You can notify the Benefits Service Center via email at benefits@jhu.edu or by calling 410-516-2000.
