The Johns Hopkins Live Near Your Work program, in partnership with Baltimore City community organizations, has scheduled four walking tours for the fall. While touring the neighborhoods, participants will learn about home-buying incentives and grant opportunities, as well as housing choices and community amenities.

Join Katie Walsh, LNYW program manager, on one or more of the following walking tours, all of which are scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. You may find a neighborhood that's just right for you. Registration is required.

  • Greektown—Thursday, Sept. 7. This neighborhood, tucked away in Southeast Baltimore, is filled to the brim with culture and cuisine.
  • Barclay—Wednesday, Sept. 13. Barclay is in the midst of a resurgence with its growing housing stock, small-business openings, and close proximity to Penn Station.
  • Station East—Thursday, Sept. 21. A small enclave in the Milton-Montford neighborhood, Station East touts itself with the tagline "Why rent when you can own?"
  • Harwood—Wednesday, Oct. 11. This nontraditional walking tour will start at a brewery, where you'll meet local residents and business owners, and learn about the numerous initiatives that are making Harwood tick.

Live Near Your Work is a benefit offered to the faculty and staff of Johns Hopkins University and Health System to assist with down payments and closing costs for homes in select neighborhoods surrounding the East Baltimore and Homewood campuses. Learn more about the program on the Work, Life and Engagement website.
