Baltimore City families need your help to afford mandatory school uniforms

The Baltimore City Public Schools system has seen a strong correlation between student access to school uniforms and student attendance, and it reports that starting the school year with new uniforms helps students build confidence and better focus on classwork. Those are among the reasons why uniforms are mandatory. But not all families are able to afford them.

You can help a student attending a Baltimore City public school by donating $40 to purchase two new uniforms through our Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18.

Over the past five years, more than 2,500 students have received two new uniforms each, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Johns Hopkins community.
