Beautiful butterflies and bees can be a welcome addition to your garden because of their usefulness in pollinating flowers. Attracting those butterflies involves incorporating plants that serve the needs of all their life stages.

Want to learn what they are? Join Carrie Engel, retail greenhouse manager for Valley View Farms, to learn the basics of butterfly gardening using plants native to Maryland. Engel appears regularly on WBAL's "Sunday Gardener," and lectures frequently to garden groups throughout the area.

The Gardening With Pollinators and Native Plants workshop will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at Keswick. The Johns Hopkins Shuttle makes frequent runs between campuses.

Register online or call 443-997-7000.
