Baltimore City families need your help to afford mandatory school uniforms

You can help students attending a Baltimore City public school by donating $40 to purchase two new uniforms. The school district has seen a strong correlation between access to uniforms and attendance. Starting the school year with new uniforms helps to build confidence in students and allows them to better focus on classwork.

The Johns Hopkins Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive was established in 2011 to assist families in purchasing the required uniforms. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community over the past five years, nearly 2,500 students have received two new uniforms each.

Donate to the student uniform drive by visiting the Work, Life and Engagement website by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

Most city schools begin the academic year on Monday, Aug. 29.
