The JHU Commuting-to-Work Program treats qualified parking and mass transit expenses on a pretax basis, which means that the amounts are excluded from your taxable income up to the amount allowed by the IRS.
For tax year 2016, the monthly pretax spending limit for non-JHU parking will increase from $250 to $255. The limit for mass transit will also increase to $255 per month. For those employees in the Washington, D.C., area, the JHU Commuting-to-Work Program complies with the recent transit amendment to the Clean and Affordable Energy Act.
WageWorks, our commuter benefits provider, offers transportation passes and automatic payment of your monthly non-JHU parking fees. For more information or to enroll in the commuter program, contact WageWorks at 1-877-924-3967 or visit the WageWorks website.
