Search committee formed to identify next Johns Hopkins School of Education dean

A 16-member group chaired by Provost Ray Jayawardhana will lead a global search for a leader to succeed Chris Morphew when his term concludes in June

A 16-member search committee has been formed to help identify the next dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Education, JHU President Ron Daniels announced today, following an announcement earlier this fall that Chris Morphew will conclude his term as dean on June 30 after nine years in the role.

The committee will be chaired by JHU Provost Ray Jayawardhana and lead a global search to find Morphew's successor, Daniels wrote in a message to the Hopkins community.

"Our next dean will join a community of scholars, students, and practitioners dedicated to expanding educational access, pursuing rigorous research, and reimagining learning at a moment of rapid technological change," Daniels wrote.

Since being named dean in 2017, Morphew has led the School of Education through a period of considerable progress and significant transformation, expanding the school's faculty and academic offerings, strengthening its connections to the Baltimore community, and directing research, policy, and practice to some of the nation's most pressing education problems.

The process to identify his successor will be assisted by the search firm Park Square Executive Search, which will work closely with the committee to identify candidates. Feedback and confidential nominations can be shared with the firm via email at jonathan@parksquare.com and/or erodricks@parksquare.com.
