Forget food fads. Carey Polis, A&S '07, is serious about helping people eat well long term. As editor of bonappetit.com, the digital side of the popular food magazine, Polis works with a video team, oversees the Bon Appetit podcast, edits articles, and collaborates with test-kitchen staff.

Polis got her start in food media while a student in the Writing Seminars, landing a summer internship at Supermarket News. Afterward, she did an independent study in food writing. "I want people to be excited about the food they cook and eat every day—not just food [that goes] for the wow factor," she says. Polis, who's married to alum Jon Raviv, A&S '06, SAIS '07 (MA), never tires of trying new recipes. One food trend she hopes is here to stay is the promotion of vegetables to main dish status. Her take: crispy roasted chickpeas with greens. Not one to ignore the sweeter side of life, she follows up the meal with a brownie.
