Picture sound as it bounces and flows through a room. That fluid movement inspired Born of Sound, a company cofounded by Ashik Mohan, Engr '01, with his wife. Born of Sound creates custom artwork of visual representations of sound waves. "We started the process as more of an artistic exploration," Mohan says. But when he and his wife mapped out their baby's heartbeat following the 20week ultrasound appointment (above), they realized the connection people could have with the art. Since then, the couple has created commissioned sound forms of everything from the rumble of a vintage car to the call of an elephant matriarch.
