The Johns Hopkins Police Department teamed up with the Baltimore Police Department to host this year's Battle of the Badges, which invited officers from across the city to play flag football while distributing holiday food kits and collecting toy donations. The new Johns Hopkins geriatrics engineering hub held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 19. “Our aim is to leverage technology to extend the time that older adults can remain living safely and independently at home," said Najim Dehak, the hub's co-director.

The Hopkins community welcomed the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to Turner Auditorium Nov. 19 as part of its annual Symphony in the City concert series. More than 400 staff, students, and Hopkins affiliates attended the free concert and celebrated the start of the upcoming holiday season. The program featured a selection of autumnal works by Coleridge-Taylor, Debussy, Grieg, Price, and Vaughan William, led by conductor Jiannan Cheng.
Lisa Ishii, senior vice president of operations for the Johns Hopkins Health System offered brief remarks before the concert, thanking everyone for spending their evening with Hopkins and the BSO. This event was hosted as part of the Johns Hopkins University 150th anniversary, giving Hopkins staff, students and the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate two Baltimore anchor institutions.

Johns Hopkins has officially relaunched its partnership with Baltimore's Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. The program, which was first established more than 20 years ago, helps local high schoolers achieve academic excellence, career readiness, and exposure to the health care field. A relaunch celebration was held Nov. 12.

Marathon runners jog past the Homewood campus Oct. 18 during the Baltimore Running Festival. The next campus race is the eighth-annual Homewood Holiday 5K on Dec. 7, featuring a course through Homewood, the BMA Sculpture Garden, and along the San Martin Hackerman Pathway, in support of the Johns Hopkins Children's Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
