/ Published Dec 17, 2024Some Baltimore children had this year's presents delivered by ambulance instead of sled. Thanks to the generosity of the Johns Hopkins community and the efforts of the Government, Community, and Economic Partnerships team, more than 650 holiday wishlists were fulfilled on Monday, Dec. 16, in partnership with local community organizations.
"Today is a great day in which Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine and the health system come together to bring gifts to the community," said Kevin Sowers, president of Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. "It's our way of giving back."
Some of the presents went to Furman L. Templeton Preparatory Academy, which has received gifts from Hopkins for the past 24 years. Rosalind Lockwood, the school's executive director, expressed how grateful her pre-K through fifth graders are for the presents.
"When these gifts are delivered, the expression on their faces is priceless," she said. "It's one of the better partnerships we have. We look forward to it every year."
