Description

Join the Johns Hopkins geographic information system (GIS) community in celebrating GIS Day 2025. This year's hybrid event will feature several exciting presentations and a lightning talk session where students, faculty, and staff can showcase their GIS-related work.

2–3 p.m. EST: In person at Wolfe W4013, Bloomberg School Campus and online via Zoom

  • Guest presentation | "'Not Just Redlining': An Urban Geographer's View on Neighborhood Change Influencing Health Disparities," Dick Sadler, Michigan State University
  • Q&A
  • Short presentation on spatial analysis at Bloomberg School of Public Health

3–4 p.m. EST: Online via Zoom

  • Welcome remarks by Ashley Sands, Johns Hopkins digital scholarship and data services manager
  • Guest presentation | "Map Your Career at Esri," Liz Martin, Esri
  • "Exploring GIS Resources and Support at Johns Hopkins," Johns Hopkins Data Services GIS team

4–5 p.m. EST: Online via Zoom

  • Lightning talk session: Students, faculty, and staff are invited to share their GIS projects, research, or course work through short, engaging lightning talks (four to five minutes each). Submit your abstract (100-150 words) by Nov. 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
