Curated Conversations Presents: Climate Change, Museums and Heritage Sites
Description
Join Karina Wizevich, moderator and associate director of the MA in Museum Studies program, as she hosts science educator and sustainability consultant Andrew Lampl and Johns Hopkins faculty member Angie Dodson for a stimulating conversation about the field's challenges and responses to climate change. The discussion will include an exploration of how the innovative climate toolkit can help your organization address climate change.
Andrew Lampl currently serves as the climate toolkit manager for Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh, PA. There he oversees the Climate Toolkit Initiative—an international collaboration of 250 museums, public gardens, and cultural institutions dedicated to addressing climate change through operations and engagement. His work has been featured on The Green Voice Podcast, American Institute for Conservation Sustainability Podcast, and The Joe Gardener Show with Joe Lamp'l. Lampl received a Bachelor of Science in communications from Northwestern University and a Master of Science in sustainability from Chatham University's Falk School of Sustainability and the Environment.
Johns Hopkins lecturer Angie Dodson brings more than 35 years of museum experience where she has provided key resources and actionable recommendations for students, practitioners, and cultural organizations seeking to strengthen their value in and impact on the communities and audiences they serve. Through her roles as a museum educator, chief operating officer, and museum director in a variety of settings—art museum, history center, historic house, estate museum—Dodson has worked to create opportunities that welcome any who look to art, history, and cultural heritage as they seek their home in the world. Most recently, Dodson served as the director of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (2018–2023), and as director of learning and engagement and chief operating officer at the Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens (1999–2018).
