Description

"Community Insights: AI in Academic Writing and Publishing" is an interactive faculty-focused webinar exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping scholarly communication. As AI becomes more prevalent in academic writing, faculty face new questions around research integrity, authorship, and ethical use. This session brings together global experts to provide clarity and guidance on navigating AI responsibly in research and publishing.

Panelists include Sadra Bakhshandeh, senior editor at Nature Reviews Bioengineering and Nature Biomedical Engineering; Ellie Gendle, head of journals policy at Springer Nature; Kamar Ameen-Ali, senior lecturer in biomedical science at Teesside University in Middlesbrough, UK; and Wynand Lambrechts, researcher at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Faculty attendees will learn how to interpret AI-related journal policies, assess opportunities and risks of using AI tools, and apply best practices to avoid ethical pitfalls. The discussion will emphasize practical ways educators and researchers can integrate AI thoughtfully to enhance writing quality and mentor students in responsible usage.
