Sustainable Solutions Presents: The Changing Face of Sports Under Climate Change

Description
Join moderator Lama Elhatow, program coordinator and lecturer in the MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy and MS in Energy Policy and Climate programs, as she hosts a panel discussion on the critical intersection between environmental sustainability, athletic performance, and how various evolutions affect not only the athletes but everyone around them. A response to heat stress, air pollution, and unpredictable conditions calls for innovative adaptation strategies—from eco-conscious infrastructure to revised regulations—to ensure that sports remain viable, inclusive, safe, and resilient in a warming world. As seasons shorten, conditions become unpredictable, and visitor numbers decline, the need for sustainable planning and climate-resilient infrastructure is also necessary to protect the economies that sports support and the livelihoods that are tied to the sports tourism sector.
