Description

Transform Mid-Atlantic (TMA) and its member campuses are proud to host the annual Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (SLCE) Conference—a full-day gathering of students, faculty, staff, and community partners from across Maryland, D.C., Delaware, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia. The SLCE Conference is a vibrant platform for sharing best practices, deepening community engagement, and advancing equity-driven service-learning and civic leadership in higher education. Whether through panels, workshops, poster presentations, or roundtable discussions, the SLCE Conference empowers participants to build meaningful partnerships, enhance student learning, and drive positive change in their communities.

This year, Sen. Cory V. McCray (Maryland's 45th Legislative District) will inspire attendees to reflect on how service and civic engagement can adapt to tomorrow's challenges while innovating for a rapidly changing world. McCray is a member of Maryland's Senate Budget & Taxation Committee, chair for the Health & Human Services Committee within the Committee, and author of the soon-to-be-released "The Apprenticeship That Saved My Life."

Join TMA and campuses across the region for a powerful day of connection, collaboration, and community impact. From faculty and students to nonprofits and community leaders—SLCE is where civic action and innovation meet.

Johns Hopkins University is a member institution of TMA, an umbrella organization of over 30 colleges and universities in the region. Johns Hopkins faculty and staff have regularly contributed to the SLCE Conference and other TMA events; several have won TMA awards and are involved in the organization of this year's event.
